Suzanne Scott

I was born in Tunis, Tunisia, in 1970 with aortic stenosis.  I had a relatively asymptomatic childhood, but I suffered a massive angina attack just before my 25th birthday. Six days later, I had open-heart surgery - The Ross-Procedure - whereby my aortic valve was removed and replaced by my very own pulmonary valve. I was given a human donor valve, homograft, in place of my pulmonary valve and have had 10 healthy years so far.

I live in Vancouver and am married with three beautiful children. I am pursuing a Ph.D. in Education at the University of British Columbia.

As a result of my life-saving cardiac surgery and ongoing cardiac care, I am committed to volunteering for the CCHA and helping others with congenital heart defects.  I am the BC Chapter Representative of the Canadian Congenital Heart Alliance.
